Featured image      Dia de los Muertos, aka “Day of the Dead”, is a holiday that honors the dead through colorful and lively celebration. Dia de los Muertos finds its origins in Mexico, however it is celebrated in many Latin American communities in the United States. The celebration is meant for friends and families to gather together to remember those who have died and to celebrate their lives. Children celebrate this holiday by decorating skulls, or calaveras, painting their faces, and dressing up in traditional Mexican clothing. Children and adults alike enjoy this holiday for the festive candy, foods, and drinks. Day of the Dead brings colorful marigold flowers, fruits and vegetables, jewelry, and traditional garments.

The Carnegie Arts Centers will host a free Family Friday event to celebrate Dia de los Muertos through song, dance, tasty treats, and arts & crafts.
